Plants are an essential resource that historically have greatly help us in survival. Plants provide nutrients and extremely important ingredient in medication. Both of these benefit our species and other animals. They are also useful as a food source very important products that help us in day to day life.

Useful products: Some products include paper products, molded plastics, Body care products, Construction, Livestock food source and bedding, nutritional supplements, oils, medicine and Food. These are all possible to be made from hemp. Hemp is a plant much like cotton that is capable of making many different things we can use in day to day life. It is a plant of the species cannabis sativa, best grown in temperate climates with soil that is drained, rich in nitrogen and non-acidic. Hemp produces a seed that contains between 25-35% oil by weight, it also is high in essential fatty acids and offers many nutritional benefits.

Digitalis leafs are made using modern re crystallisation which is a method of extracting the medicine from the plant. Digitalis is the dried powdered leaf that is involved in the treatment of heart disease. Main purpose is to maintain the beating heart and helps it function properly.

The rosy periwinkles a source of two cancer fighting drugs, the periwinkle gives vincristine to treat leukemia and vinblastine is used to treat Hodkin's disease.

How its made: Hemp is made similarly to linen and cotton in many ways, the actually hemp fabric is made from the stems. The stems are used to dissolve the gum or pectin* and separate the fibbers which are then processed again and woven into yarns and fabric. Produced best in Italy hemp holds up better than many other fabrics although wrinkles easily.

Digitalis can be very deadly although if given small amounts it can be beneficial. It is isolated from the leaves of the foxglove, an ornamental garden plant.

vincristine and vinblastine are poisonous chemicals produced by the leaves of the rosy periwinkle. They are taken from the dried leafs of foxglove to attain the medicine that is needed. They are very dangerous although if given the right dosage they can be used to kill off cancer cells. They are both used to treat devastating diseases that are otherwise incurable.

Physical properties: many physical properties of plants protect themselves by synthesizing toxic chemicals. Some toxins are poisonous to humans but others can be utilized in the manufacturing of drugs, perfumes, cosmetics etc. Different scientific techniques are used to extract or synthesize parts of the root, leaves or flower that benefit humans.

Chemical properties:The chemical properties of plants go from solving minor diseases to previously considered terminal diseases. With the use of periwinkles to extract vital medicines plants can save countless lives in terms of cancer and other threats. They also provide nutrients to protect our cells from damage such as beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin.


Environmental uses: Utilizing plants is a holistic and simple use of natural resources. Natural made ingredient are an environmental friendly way to reduce global emissions. using artificially manufactured material can actually lead to negative effects to the environment and human health. Natural uses of plants can end up being cheaper and possible produce better results in many ways.

Societal uses: Plants give humans important nutrients and food energy in our diet and our the diet of our livestock. Leafs can produce additives to other foods. These are known as herbs including parsely, basil, sage, oregano, and cilantro. Plants contain important minerals such as calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, and many vitamins such as B,C,E, and K. Some darker leaves also contain omega 3 fats which are essentia in the brain and hearts function. Humans also use plants for car and furniture polishes along with surfboard waxes. The plant majorly produced in mexico Euphorbia cerifera can be used to make lipstick.
